The tax regulations indicate that “You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for a program to stop smoking. However, you cannot include in medical expenses amounts you pay for drugs that do not require a prescription, such as nicotine gum or patches, that are designed to help stop smoking.”

Since hypnotherapy is a recognized smoking cessation option, the costs of smoking cessation hypnosis may be paid for by the government.

In order to deduct medical expenses in any given year, your total medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

Of course, it is best to consult with your tax adviser to ensure that the cost of smoking cessation hypnosis will actually be deductible for you.

Remember that while smoking cessation hypnosis can be very effective in the office of a hypnotherapist, you can also benefit from recorded smoking cessation hypnotherapy sessions. While a recorded hypnosis session is not “live,” you can use it over and over again to gain the maximum benefits.

So, another way to reduce the cost of smoking cessation hypnosis is to use a quit smoking hypnosis recording.
